Jets add Rex Hogan, Chad Alexander to personnel staff

The New York Jets are building their new front office around general manager Joe Douglas, adding experienced decision-makers in Rex Hogan and Chad Alexander to their staff.
Joe Douglas is putting together a strong group of personnel people as he begins his first stint as a general manager in the NFL, giving the Jets a pair of strong additions over the past few days.
Rex Hogan will be Douglas’ right-hand man as assistant general manager, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
New Jets’ GM Joe Douglas know has a new man at his side: Jets hired former Colts’ VP of player personnel Rex Hogan as assistant General Manager, per sources. Jets get a coveted personnel man.

Hogan should be a familiar face to Jets fans, as he previously served as the team’s Director of College Scouting. He also spent 12 years as a scout for the Chicago Bears, and was most recently serving as the Vice President of Player Personnel for the Indianapolis Colts, as Schefter also points out:
So now former Colts’ VP of player personnel Rex Hogan, who once was the Jets director of college scouting, returns to the team with the title of assistant General Manager. Hogan also was a scout for the Chicago Bears for 12 seasons, serving as both a college and national scout.

Chad Alexander will now serve as the team’s Director of Player Personnel, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport:
One more big piece to the #Jets new staff under GM Joe Douglas: #Ravens Assistant Director of Pro Personnel Chad Alexander, a respected scout, is headed to NYJ to be Director of Player Personnel, I’m told.

Alexanders’s most recent post in the league was Assistant Director of Pro Personnel for the Baltimore Ravens. He leaves a Ravens team he’s served since 1999, working his way up from scouting assistant to the executive ranks. His connection with Douglas is strong, considering Douglas joined the Ravens’ personnel department in 2000, and remained there in various capacities for 15 years.
This offseason has been anything but smooth for the Jets, from firing head coach Todd Bowles and replacing the coaching staff to firing general manager Mike Maccagnan after the 2019 NFL draft. But the hiring of Douglas as the new general manager, and the additions he’s made to his staff since then, should have Jets fans excited about the future.
