The Jets haven’t gone through a complete renovation of their uniforms since the 1998 season when they ditched the kelly green for a darker shade of green. On top of that, their old logo was switched from a bright green “JETS” to an oval-shaped “JETS” with the letters “NY” draped in the background.

Little is known about what the uniforms will look like and whether the Jets will opt to re-design the current logo or not. Some have speculated that the team will go back to using the old kelly green color scheme but nothing has been confirmed to this point.

The Jets are in the midst of a rebuild and will be looking for various ways to establish a new identity for the franchise. While the Jets will be searching for that identity off the field, their on-field success will ultimately be what really establishes that identity.

The team’s current roster is void of many star playmakers to construct a true team foundation but the recent draft selections of Jamal Adams and Sam Darnold have gone a long way towards changing the culture of the organization.

Adams has brought about a new-school swagger to give the team a true franchise face. On the other hand, Darnold will hopefully give the Jets some stability at the quarterback position, something they have lacked for most of their existence.

All of this will hopefully give the 2019 Jets a new-team feel complete with a new brand identity and franchise image. After all these years, the hope is that this upcoming season will breathe a breath of fresh air into a franchise that has been stagnant for far too long.

Only time will tell if the changes will actually bring about any true franchise metamorphosis.
