In this 2019 NFL Draft player profile, we take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of defensive end Nick Bosa out of Ohio State University.

It looks like there is another Bosa making noise entering the 2019 NFL Draft. Defensive end Nick Bosa, brother of Los Angeles Chargers Joey Bosa, has been gaining attention as he prepares to enter the draft.

As a freshman, Bosa had big shoes to fill as he followed his big brother to Ohio State University. With that said, the pressure wasn’t too much for Bosa to handle. He recorded 29 tackles with seven for loss and five sacks.

By the time Bosa was a sophomore, he found himself on the field for more snaps, allowing him to better his talents. Even though he was still in rotation with several other defensive ends, he was able to total almost nine sacks, 34 tackles, and one forced fumble.

In 2018, Bosa only played in three games due to an abdominal injury. However, he still had four sacks and 14 tackles. In the three years Bosa spent in Ohio, he had 77 tackles. Of those tackles, 47 were solo and 30 were assisted. He also had 29 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks.

STRENGTHS

Bosa is a dominant pass-rusher on the edge. He is disruptive at the line of scrimmage. He can get to a running back or quarterback in the blink of an eye. He’s quick, swift, and instinctive. He has great balance and power. He can also handle double-teams and can dominantly shed blocks.

WEAKNESSES

Bosa doesn’t have the best frame for his position. He lacks length and is a tad short. He also had an abdominal injury, which is why he was limited in 2018.  Although it doesn’t seem to be raising too many concerns, this is something teams are going to consider.

DRAFT DAY PREDICTION

Bosa is definitely a top five 2019 NFL Draft pick. Most scouts are even saying he should be in the top three of his class.

NEW YORK JETS PREDICTION

The New York Jets need a strong edge rusher, that can make quick moves to get to opposing quarterbacks. Although Bosa does have these qualities and would be a fantastic piece to the Jets puzzle, the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers may beat the Jets to the finish line.
