Heading into Week 8 fantasy football, there is only one player worth starting from the New York Jets and it’s wide receiver Jermaine Kearse.

At this point in time, the New York Jets are hurting big time at wide receiver. Quincy Enunwa is out for the next few weeks due to an ankle injury. Robby Anderson is also dealing with an ankle injury and is listed as “doubtful” for Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Due to this, fantasy football owners might potentially have a sleeper pick on their hands this week since the Jets are severely down in the offensive playmaker category.

Wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, for a few weeks now, has been the odd man out of the positional group. So far this season, quarterback Sam Darnold has been connecting with Enunwa mostly and ever since he went down to injury, things haven’t been the same. The Jets offense is out of sync and even their ground game, due to poor play by their offensive line, has been unable to get the job done.

Considering that this week, the Bears defense is pretty good against the run, means that Darnold will likely be passing as much if not just a bit more in this Week 8 matchup. Without Enunwa or Anderson, Kearse is easily the top receiving option on offense.

This potentially makes Kearse a top fantasy football sleeper pick since he’ll likely see a lot more passes coming his way and especially in the red zone. Even Alex Cuesta of Sports Opinions Podcast knows that this could be a big fantasy game for Kearse that’s worth at least starting him in the FLEX position.

I couldn’t help but agree with Cuesta as well since the Jets truly lack any other major offensive players worth mentioning. Kearse easily will be relied upon to get the job done and do his part against the odds of leaving the Windy City victorious.

Start Kearse this week and don’t even think twice about it. He’ll likely score a touchdown or two and in the FLEX position, would be a huge addition to your lineup this week. Even if the Jets lose, Kearse will at least be one of the stars of the game thanks to everything he brings to the table.
