A new book called “Beyond Broadway Joe” takes a look at all the iconic players and coaching staff from the Super Bowl III championship New York Jets team besides the man famously behind #12.

When it comes to books about the New York Jets, the truth of the matter is, they revolve around a certain quarterback that wore #12. There is no denying the incredible impact quarterback Joe Namath had when he was under center with the Jets but it wasn’t all about just him.

Namath brought a gritty mentality to the city that never sleeps and was a catalyst for the players around him to deliver when it mattered most. Yes, Namath guaranteed victory when facing, at the time, the almighty Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. According to the media, analysts, and anyone that watched pro football during the late 60’s, the Jets had no shot in beating the Colts in a championship game.

Not only did the Jets win behind Namath’s guarantee, but it easily was one of the greatest upsets in pro football history. It catapulted the Jets from pretenders to contenders but oftentimes, people forget that it was much more than Namath.

“Beyond Broadway Joe” is a new book written by Bob Lederer that is an excellent read to truly understand all the hard work, planning, and execution by everyone on the roster besides Namath. 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of this historic sports event as this book captures what needed to happen for everything to come together.

After reading this book from beginning to end, it’s chock full of information that broke down everything that went behind a team that had a lot to prove but not much support from those outside of the locker room. “Beyond Broadway Joe” features interviews with 38 surviving members of that championship team as well as access to exclusive archives of the coaching staff.

Lederer was also able to get interviews with players that went up against that the Jets team which spoke about their teamwork and ability to always be in a football game even when the going got tough. It was very interesting to see what the opposition had to say when facing a team that would never quit in any aspect of a game.

“Beyond Broadway Joe” can be purchased now by heading over to BeyondBroadwayJoe.com as it delivers a unique look at those responsible for winning it all besides a legendary quarterback that knew he was indeed a part of a special team. You won’t regret reading this book featuring one of the most unique angles I’ve ever read about the Jets.
