Heading into Week 3 fantasy football, it’s best to sit New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold as he faces the Cleveland Browns.

Last week against the Miami Dolphins, despite the decent performance, quarterback Sam Darnold was brought back down to reality after his impressive Week 1 debut. Against the Miami Dolphins, Darnold totaled 334 passing yards, 25 completions, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Should fantasy football owners consider starting him in Week 3 action?

In the grand scheme of things, no. The issue isn’t so much with Darnold but the shaky and inconsistent offensive line of the Jets. The truth of the matter is, he’s getting pressured a lot, getting sacked, and doesn’t have the right protection to do what he does best. Mind you, we’re just two weeks into the regular season.

The Cleveland Browns, despite being 0-2 on the year, have a very good pass rush led by star defensive end Myles Garrett. Darnold is likely going to feel the pressure even more in a road game in which the Jets could very well lose to give the Browns their first win in years.

It’s best to sit Darnold this week as it’s not worth the risk. This has trap game written all over it as one can expect Browns fans to be cheering, screaming, and rooting for the Browns to end their historic losing streak against a team also coming off a loss.

Darnold has a lot of upsides but if you do own him, could be worth stashing on your bench as he continues to progress as the season continues. Darnold will likely have spurts of big fantasy football games depending on the matchup but could post subpar results against teams with a consistent pass rush.

That week is now as Darnold will likely not have a good game and won’t produce the kind of fantasy points worth starting. Sit Darnold and don’t even think twice about it as he could very well put up a dud of a game as the Jets could very well make history for all the wrong reasons on Thursday Night Football.
