Heading into Week 2 fantasy football, New York Jets running back Bilal Powell is worth starting against the Miami Dolphins defense.

If it’s one thing to know about running back Bilal Powell of the New York Jets, it’s that at any point during the season, he can have a huge breakout game. This is due to the fact that he can do some serious damage on the ground or through the air which makes him a nice addition to any fantasy football team.

This week, Powell is going up against the Miami Dolphins defense who has been inconsistent when it comes to their ability to stop the run. It’s no secret that with a new rookie quarterback in Sam Darnold, the Jets plan to establish the ground game in order to make things easier for him to do what he does best.

This bodes well for fantasy football owners that have Powell as he should put up a better game this time around. Last week against the Detroit Lions, Powell was mostly used in a relief role for running back Isaiah Crowell.

In Week 1, Powell only totaled 60 rushing yards, 12 rushes, and failed to score a touchdown. Expect that to change as when it comes to a division rivalry game, one better believe that Powell will make the most out of the opportunities coming his way.

Due to the fact that Powell is sharing time with Crowell and fellow running back Trenton Cannon, it’s best to start him in the FLEX position this week. Powell isn’t anywhere near the level of an RB1 and even RB2 is just too high for his fantasy value at the moment due to not getting starting reps.

The FLEX position is perfect for Powell this week as he should be able to score his first touchdown of the season for the Jets. Expect the offensive playcalling by coordinator Jeremy Bates continue to be diverse and for a focus on using Powell more on offense.
