NFL Spin Zone picks Terrelle Pryor as Jets most overrated player

In a recent slideshow, NFL Spin Zone picked every team’s most overrated player headed into the regular season. For the New York Jets, they went with wide receiver Terrelle Pryor.

Football fans have a few months to go before the regular season is upon us but at the end of the day, we’re all anxious for it to finally get here. Of course, as it the case every offseason, some players turn into hidden gems during training camp and a lot of others are overrated before the season even begins. Such is the case with New York Jets wide receiver Terrelle Pryor as NFL Spin Zone believes he is the team’s most overrated player.

In a slideshow written by Randy Gurzi of NFL Spin Zone, he selected Pryor since a lot of teams overhyped his ability on the field the past few years mostly based on his 2016 season with the Cleveland Browns. You know, the one where he dropped over 1,000 receiving yards and four touchdowns that had fans in a frenzy since he broke out.

He earned a decent one-year contract last offseason with the Washington Redskins and unfortunately, spent most of it on the sideline. Pryor missed the majority of the year due to a severe ankle injury that he’s still recovering from as he needed surgery to begin the healing process.

Believe it or not, a few teams, including the Jets, were interested in his services when he became a free agent. Pryor ultimately signed with the Jets, who, just like the Redskins, gave him another one-year “prove it” kind of deal.

So far during organized team activities and mandatory minicamp, Pryor has yet to fully participate in team drills and only did light workouts with his fellow wide receivers. His status to even be ready to compete in training camp is still 50/50 at this point in time.

It’s easy to see why Pryor was selected by Gurzi since he’s 100 percent right in that he’s an overrated player that most teams still think has some gas left in the tank. It’s unlikely that Pryor replicates that magical season just a few years ago.

Unfortunately, his ankle injury will likely linger all summer long. If he’s unable to compete or prove his worth, it’s not hard to envision him ending up as a training camp casualty for the Jets since they have a lot of competition in the positional group. So much that it would make Pryor expendable if things don’t work out once training camp is in the books.
