The NFL has officially announced that teams can wear alternate, throwback, or the infamous “Color Rush” uniforms at least three times this upcoming season. The New York Jets should use it for a special upcoming event.

Whether you loved or hated the “Color Rush” experiment, there is no denying that some fans enjoyed how they looked with their team colors amplified to the next degree. The majority despised watching two teams wearing Color Rush jerseys due to how distracting they were on the field. When the New York Jets debuted their Color Rush jerseys, it wasn’t all that bad in the grand scheme of things.

As per Darin Gantt of NBC Sports, he confirmed that the NFL will allow teams to wear alternate, throwback, or even those Color Rush uniforms if they please up to three times this upcoming season. This is great news for the Jets as a big anniversary is coming up in 2018.

Once the regular season is underway, it will mark the 50th anniversary of the only Super Bowl championship in Jets history. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, it was 50 years ago that quarterback Joe Namath and the rest of the 1968 Jets made NFL history.

Not only did the Jets do the unthinkable and defeat the juggernaut known back then as the Baltimore Colts but Broadway Joe guaranteed victory and his team did just that. It’s was a historic moment for professional football and well, is the only time the Jets were champions of the world.

Perhaps the Jets can have a ’68 throwback uniform game to commemorate that championship season and bring them back for a home game during the regular season. They could also have a game wearing the classic all green uniforms from the 1980s that got them the popular “Gang Green” nickname.

The possibilities are endless but it would be a great sight to see if the Jets brought back these alternate uniforms at various points during the regular season. Not only could it inspire the team even more towards playing above average football but bring back a lot of great memories to fans across the globe.
