Heading into Week 16 fantasy football, quarterback Bryce Petty of the New York Jets is a safe sit against the Los Angeles Chargers.

For those of you lucky enough to have made it this far in your fantasy football league, congrats! For many owners, it’s championship week after a long and well, interesting year due to injuries, surprise players that shined, and popular players that had their fantasy values plummet. When it comes to the most important position on the team, it’s not a time to take any major risks or hope for a miracle. Such is the case with quarterback Bryce Petty of the New York Jets.

Last week against the New Orleans Saints in his first start of the season, Petty had a subpar performance. He totaled 179 passing yards, 19 completions, one touchdown, and two costly interceptions. Clearly, Petty has a lot of work ahead of him before he’s ready to be a consistent starter.

Due to this, it’s best to sit him this week and not even think twice about it. At the end of the day, he’s playing to save his job with the Jets since he has two games left in the season to prove his worth. His inability to hit his receivers in stride accurately are tremendously hurting his opportunities to prove his worth as incomplete passes and interceptions are never a good thing, especially in fantasy football.

It would be best for fantasy owners to stay clear of Petty and use any other viable quarterback that would present them with a better opportunity to score points. Considering that Petty will be going up against the Chargers, expect to see defensive end Joey Bosa continue to do what he does best and bring the heat to him on every single play he’s attempting to pass.

START OR SIT?: Fantasy Pros Start or Sit Assistant Tool

Sit Petty this week and understand that there won’t be any magical performance this week by him or even in the season finale on the road against the New England Patriots. At this point in time, Petty is simply not a good quarterback and definitely not one worth starting in fantasy football.
