Heading into Week 13 fantasy football, running back Elijah McGuire is a safe-sit since he’ll see another game playing a limited role.

In the grand scheme of things, rookie running back Elijah McGuire needs to continue having patience when it comes to his eventual time to shine. It hasn’t been since Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars that he started to gain some serious momentum but since then, due to the depth chart ahead of him and how the New York Jets are airing it out more than running the football, have limited his contributions. It’s also made his fantasy football value drop tremendously.

Heading into a Week 13 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, fantasy football owners would be wise to bench McGuire and not waste a starting spot on him. With running back Matt Forte listed as questionable for Sunday, he might suit up and play in a limited role. If that happens, it will undoubtedly cut into McGuire’s reps.

Besides that, it’s expected that running back Bilal Powell will get the nod to start on Sunday for the Jets and well, he will more than likely get the majority of reps. McGuire will once again play backup and relief duties which won’t mean much when it comes to fantasy football points.

Last week in that backup role, McGuire only totaled 21 rushing yards on five attempts. Again, he hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 4 and it’ll be much the same against the Chiefs on Sunday.

START OR SIT?: Fantasy Pros Start or Sit Assistant Tool

It’s best to sit McGuire and find another alternative if you’re desperate for another running back to fill a slot. Make sure to hit the waiver wire and find a running back that is entering a favorable matchup since they will more than likely earn more points than McGuire. If anything, the only running back worth starting this week from the Jets is easily Powell since he’ll be more motivated in Week 13 than ever before.
