Due to running back Matt Forte of the New York Jets still dealing with a severe knee issue, Bilal Powell will more than likely get the nod to start and should do well against the Carolina Panthers from a fantasy football standpoint.

When it comes to the offense of the New York Jets, it’s still a “work in progress” that is inconsistent but when clicking on all cylinders, can be efficient. It’s hard to predict what exactly offensive coordinator John Morton has in mind in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers, but due to an injury, running back Bilal Powell should have a decent day at the office when it comes to his fantasy football value.

With running back Matt Forte already missing a practice this week, Powell will more than likely see an increased role on offense. At this point in time, the Jets haven’t finalized their injury report but history says Forte will either once again be out for this matchup like he was in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or be listed as questionable.

Either way, Powell will once again make the most out of his opportunities since if Forte is indeed out for Sunday’s game, he’ll be taking his place as a starter. If Forte plays but in a limited role, it should still give Powell more reps than what he got in his last game. Forte will more than likely miss this game in the grand scheme of things.

Against the Buccaneers, Powell only totaled 30 rushing yards on 10 attempts. It’s a sad situation that Powell hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 4 back in early October but this could very well be the week he finally has a big game.

Expect to see the Jets feed Powell the rock and let him do what he does best. If the Jets are to have a shot at beating the Carolina Panthers this week, it’ll be thanks to committing to the run and letting players like Powell and fellow running back Elijah McGuire run wild against the tough defense of the Panthers.

Powell is worth starting this week in fantasy football either as an RB2 or at the very least, as a FLEX option. Expect to see him end his touchdown drought and score at least one touchdown in this Week 12 matchup against the Panthers.
