Bills game may make or break season for the Jets
By Michael Henken

After a somewhat positive start to 2017, the New York Jets have fallen on rough times, losing three consecutive games. With that being said, this Thursday’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills could make or break the 2017 season for the green and white.
Prior to the start of the 2017 season, many had predicted that the New York Jets would have a brutal season. In fact, some had expected the team to go winless, and after starting out 0-2, it looked as if the team was well on the way to a poor season.
Then, however, Gang Green rattled off three consecutive victories over the Miami Dolphins, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Cleveland Browns.
Quarterback Josh McCown performed well throughout that stretch, and an explosive backfield featuring Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire seemed to be emerging. The team’s defense had also shown signs of promise.

Since that win against the Browns, however, the Jets have gone winless, losing three consecutive games against the New England Patriots, the Miami Dolphins, and the Atlanta Falcons.
Sure, it could be argued that the Patriots and the Falcons are two of the more talented teams that the Jets will play all season, but the most concerning aspects of the losing streak have come within their overall performances.
The team has repeatedly been starting off strong, but as games drag on, the Jets have been falling apart. They held leads over all three teams at certain points before falling behind each time. Against both the Dolphins and the Falcons, the Jets were leading late in the games but simply weren’t able to close out strong.
After this recent losing skid, the Jets are now 3-5 and unfortunately sit at fourth place in the AFC East. With that being said, this upcoming game against the Bills could certainly shed some light on how the rest of the 2017 season will play out for the Jets.
It’s also important to note that after this game against the Bills, the Jets will only play one more divisional game: a Week 17 matchup against the Patriots.
