Heading into Week 9 fantasy football, make sure to bench running back Matt Forte of the New York Jets as he goes up against the Buffalo Bills tonight on Thursday Night Football.
The New York Jets are at a point this season where they’re losing games they could have easily won which is frustrating, to say the least. You can chalk it up to bad playcalling, a lack of talent, but it all comes down to sticking to what works in the grand scheme of things. When it comes to the rushing attack of the Jets, they continue to not do what makes sense and well, it’s tremendously hurting the fantasy football value of their running backs. Such is the case with Matt Forte.
Unfortunately for him, he still has some gas left in the tank but at the end of the day, offensive coordinator John Morton can look brilliant at times or like he’s not sure what establishing the run truly means. It was just a few weeks ago that the ground game of the Jets easily transformed their offense into an efficient one but again, they drop the ball by going to a passing game in which this team isn’t built for in succeeding with.
Heading into a Week 9 Thursday Night Football matchup, fantasy football owners that have Forte should consider benching him since it’s hard to not only trust in him getting the job done but rather, that Morton will call a gameplan that plays to his strengths.

If anything, it would make more sense for the Jets to give more reps to fellow running back Bilal Powell since he’s healthier and more of a difference maker on offense thanks to everything he brings to the table.
Either way, the Jets are a mess and they will more than likely lose their fourth straight game to a surging Bills team that just picked up Kelvin Benjamin to add another piece that further turns them into contenders.
START OR SIT?: Fantasy Pros Start or Sit Assistant Tool
Sit Forte this week and don’t risk a starting slot on a player that last week against the Atlanta Falcons, only totaled seven rushing yards and four rushes. Forte did most of his damage as a receiving option as he totaled 45 yards on six receptions but remember, he’s yet to score a single touchdown this season. Either way, he won’t produce enough fantasy points to warrant starting him so do yourself the favor and leave him on the bench this week.
