Heading into Week 9 fantasy football, it’s not worth starting quarterback Josh McCown of the New York Jets against the tough pass defense of the Buffalo Bills.

When it comes to the New York Jets, they’ve been hanging in every single game they’ve been a part of but unfortunately, do themselves in just when things are going great. They are one of the most penalized teams and at the end of the day, starting quarterback Josh McCown can only do so much with the limited talent around him. Should fantasy football owners even consider starting him in Week 9 action against the Buffalo Bills?

In the grand scheme of things, McCown does well when it comes to stats but unfortunately, tends to mess things up when it matters most towards the end of football games. Fantasy football owners are undoubtedly frustrated since he does account for at least a touchdown or two per week but the interceptions are what destroys his ability to earn more points consistently.

This week, McCown faces the tough pass defense of the Buffalo Bills who in Week 1, kept him in check all game long. In that Week 1 matchup, the Jets lost and McCown totaled 187 passing yards, 26 completions, and two interceptions.

McCown failed to score a touchdown in that Week 1 loss as it’s expected to be much the same this time around. The Bills are 5-2 and right behind the New England Patriots in the AFC East race to be division champions.

START OR SIT?: Fantasy Pros Start or Sit Assistant Tool

It’s best to sit McCown this week since he’s going to have another rough day at the office. Fantasy football owners would be wise to bench him in Week 9 action and look elsewhere for another quarterback that is entering a favorable matchup.
