Heading into Week 8 fantasy football, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins of the New York Jets is worth starting against the defense of the Atlanta Falcons.

As the New York Jets continue to work out all the kinks on their offense, one thing is for certain. Unlike anything we’ve seen over the past few years, offensive coordinator John Morton is finally using the tight end position for more than just having an extra blocker. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been doing well so far this season, but is he worth starting in Week 8 fantasy football against the defense of the Atlanta Falcons?

In the grand scheme of things, Seferian-Jenkins is worth starting thanks to the current momentum he’s riding. He’s scored a touchdown in every game he’s been in for the past three weeks.

His fantasy football value continues to rise and what’s crazy is he’s yet to have a breakout game. Could it happen against the Falcons? There is a risk here since the Falcons defense tends to do well against covering tight ends but there is hope that Morton continues to do what works in order to score touchdowns and efficiently use Seferian-Jenkins.

Fantasy owners should consider starting him as a FLEX option this week since he should be able to keep his touchdown streak alive. He’s not yet worthy of being a TE2 and isn’t anywhere near a TE1 but he should be in a position to make plays and again, find the end zone again on Sunday.

With how well quarterback Josh McCown has been so far this season, Seferian-Jenkins is expected to get his usual reps at 5-10 passes coming his way. If the Jets offense starts red hot yet again and uses the tight end position to great success, this could very well be his biggest game yet of the season.

Start Seferian-Jenkins only as a FLEX option this week and take ease in knowing he should be able to continue making a name for himself. So far this season, he’s been stepping up big time and looks like he’s only going to make even more of an impact as the season progresses. It could very well start in Week 8 action.
