The New York Jets first-quarter plays against the AFC East’s previously last-place Miami Dolphins demonstrate an amazing offense with strong abilities. Here’s a breakdown of the big yards gained by running backs Bilal Powell and Matt Forte.

The New York Jets have perhaps their best start in their game against the Miami Dolphins. In just under two minutes, Bilal Powell, Elijah McGuire, Matt Forté, and former Seattle Seahawk, Jermaine Kearse, move the ball 75 yards. Talk about starting the game with a bang.

Sadly, fumbles, interceptions, and penalties would see the Jets lose their second game in a row. Powell and Forté continue to show their value as Jets players; it’s just a shame that they aren’t used a bit more on offense since clearly, they can do great things when the football is in their hands.

Both Powell and Forté are credited with over 160 combined yards in both rushing and receiving in the Miami game. This is significantly better than the game the Jets played against the last-place Cleveland Browns.

More from Jets News

Powell rushed for only 5 yards in that Browns game. It is also noteworthy that in this game against the Dolphins, Powell has the greatest number of receiving yards since the beginning of the regular season with 40 yards on only two catches!

Forté has greatly improved in his yards of receiving and rushing since the start of the season. He completed only 36 yards against the Buffalo Bills.

The Jets certainly face a challenge next week against the 3-3 Atlanta Falcons, but both teams’ rushing rankings are pretty even. I have hope that the next game we’ll see even more improvement from these two players.
