Heading into Week 7 fantasy football, it’s best to sit running back Matt Forte of the New York Jets this week against the Miami Dolphins.

Running back Matt Forte of the New York Jets missed the past two weeks due to a knee and toe injury which sidelined him. The truth of the matter is that age is catching up to Forte who at 31-years-old simply doesn’t have it anymore. Yeah, he still has some gas left in the tank but it’s not anything worth starting this week in fantasy football.

Even this week, the Jets hit the road to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 7 action and it’s not worth risking a starting spot on him. With the return of running back Bilal Powell to the lineup, it will undoubtedly cut into his reps.

Powell will have more plays designed around his skillset as Forte will see some time but expect the Jets to use all three of their running backs in hopes of establishing the run on Sunday. Expect to see Powell should get the majority of reps, followed by Forte and then rookie running back Elijah McGuire.

Fantasy football owners would be wise to sit Forte this week and look for another viable running back that has more upside. It’s expected that the Jets will run the football against the defense of the Dolphins to help open up their passing game, which has struggled as of late.

Last week against the New England Patriots, Forte totaled just 22 rushing yards on nine rushes. As a receiving target, Forte totaled 59 yards on eight receptions. Surprising of all, Forte has yet to score a touchdown this season either on the ground or as an eligible receiving option.

Don’t expect that trend to end anytime soon as it’s best to sit him this week. Forte won’t do much of anything against the Dolphins.
