Heading into Week 6 fantasy football, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins of the New York Jets is worth starting against the New England Patriots.

Last week against the Cleveland Browns, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins scored his first touchdown of the season with the New York Jets. He’s getting targeted a bit more on offense and considering that this week he has a matchup against AFC East rival New England Patriots, should see even more reps coming his way. Is it enough for fantasy football owners to consider starting him this week?

The overall defense of the Patriots hasn’t been good at all. Every week this season, they’ve given opposing offenses at least 300+ passing yards and it’s expected the Jets will take advantage and also attack them through the air. Now, Seferian-Jenkins isn’t up there yet in his fantasy football value to be a TE1 but would make for a decent FLEX option.

In the grand scheme of things, fantasy football owners would be wise to take advantage of this highly favorable matchup since believe it or not, the Jets have a shot at beating the Patriots on Sunday. Their offense has been clicking on all cylinders as it’s expected they should be able to do some serious damage against the defense of the Patriots.

Since offensive coordinator John Morton is slowly but surely incorporating the tight end position on offense, it’s expected he will more than likely use Seferian-Jenkins to great extent against the Patriots. It’s a big opportunity to use his frame (6’6″ 262lbs.) and take advantage of mismatches.

Fantasy football owners should start Seferian-Jenkins as a FLEX option if they’re in need of a potential sleeper pick in Week 6. Should the Jets beat the Patriots, it’ll be due to big plays by some of their premier receiving options. Since Seferian-Jenkins should be riding some momentum heading into this matchup from his solid touchdown catch last week, keep an eye on him as he should be in line to make some nice plays on offense.

Overall, while Seferian-Jenkins continues to work hard to live up to his true potential, this could be the game that proves he’s more than capable of being a viable starter on offense. If he has a big game against the Patriots, it’ll go a long way in what fantasy owners can expect from him as the season progresses.
