Heading into Week 6 fantasy football, wide receiver Jermaine Kearse is perfect to start as a FLEX option against the New England Patriots.

As the New York Jets prepare for a huge Week 6 AFC East rivalry game at home against the New England Patriots, fantasy football owners are undoubtedly excited for this matchup. Believe it or not, the offense of the Jets has been clicking on all cylinders as they have a legitimate shot at beating the Patriots in front of their home crowd. Due to this, should fantasy owners consider starting wide receiver Jermaine Kearse?

Considering that Kearse is the top and best receiver the Jets have, it would make a ton of sense to give him a start this week. While Kearse doesn’t warrant a WR2 consideration and is still nowhere near WR1 levels, he’s the perfect FLEX option against the Patriots.

So far this season, it’s evident that the Patriots seem a bit off. Maybe it’s just early season rust or it could be signs of the franchise entering the final stages of their dynasty, the Patriots aren’t playing lights out football like in the past. Remember, even the greatest NFL dynasties eventually crumble as the defending Super Bowl champions aren’t dominating like they used to, especially their defense.

The defense of the Patriots has given up 300+ passing yards to every team they’ve faced so far this season. Veteran quarterback Josh McCown has done well in managing games and should be in for another strong performance. Since his go-to target so far this season has been Kearse, it’s easy to make the decision in starting him since he should have a big impact in this game.

Fantasy football owners would be wise to start Kearse as a FLEX option and not even think twice about it. He’s their premier red-zone target and has delivered in the clutch when his team needed it the most.

Overall, this should be a great game as history says it’ll be a close one. It’s hard to predict if the Jets are serious about being contenders this season and pull a huge upset in Week 6 or if the Patriots are waiting for a game like this to wake up and completely obliterate the opposition. Either way, Kearse will have a very good day at the office when all is said and done.
