The New York Jets have yet to win a game on the road but have a favorable matchup heading into their Week 5 away game against the Cleveland Browns.

Ah yes fans of the New York Jets, we’ve all been waiting for this matchup ever since the regular season schedules were released a few months ago. In Week 5, the Jets have a road game against the Cleveland Browns. Yes, the same Browns who are 0-4 this season and present the Jets with an opportunity to enjoy a huge win if everything goes in their favor.

On paper, the Jets have a better team and have momentum on their side. They are 2-2 and enjoying a two-game win streak which bodes well for them to leave Cleveland victorious. Of course, no game is a guaranteed win, even if it is against the Browns.

The only alarming stat about this particular matchup is the fact that believe it or not, the Jets have yet to win a game on the road so far this season. It’s early but when the Jets did go up against opposing teams on the road, they lost. Both losses came from the Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders, respectively.

Even head coach Todd Bowles knows that it’s crucial to win on the road, especially to earn one this time around against the Browns who are still trying to find their team identity. Here is what Bowles had to say, courtesy of the Media Relations Department of the Jets:

On how important it is to get their first road win…

It’s important because it’s the next win and we haven’t won on the road yet. To go further in this league, you have to win on the road so this is our next road challenge and we have to come out fast.

Needless to say, it’s important to win on the road since it not only gives a team confidence but proves they can win regardless of the conditions in opposing stadiums. Winning fixes everything and if a team can consistently win on the road, they can overcome even the toughest of obstacles.

Overall, the time is now for the Jets to make a statement. If they can make an example out of the Browns and rout them, it will set things up nicely for their Week 6 matchup at home against the New England Patriots. But for now, it all starts with getting their first win on the road against a Browns team that can’t seem to get anything going their way.
