These Week 5 fantasy football sleepers will highlight your starting roster thanks to entering favorable matchups.

A quarter of the regular season is already in the books and fantasy football is starting to heat up. Of course, fantasy football owners have already been dealt with a lot of issues, primarily injuries to some of their drafted stars.

Working the waiver wire isn’t easy and even as a last resort, some might have to resort to trading other pieces to land a sleeper or two who will balance teams out. Make sure if that’s the case, do your research to avoid getting a dud when giving up a stud!

Luckily, Week 5 presents some good matchups where some sleeper picks will be able to prove their worth and at least for now, be worth starting. Keep these players on a weekly basis as some might not be worth keeping around after this week.

Without further ado, here are the top five sleepers worth starting heading into Week 5 action.

Next: 5. A surprise sleeper at quarterback

5. Jay Cutler, QB Miami Dolphins

Of all quarterbacks, I can’t believe I am putting my trust in Jay Cutler this week. But, if I am rocking with Parker, I have to believe in his quarterback right?

Cutler has not had an impressive season. Last week, he completed 20-of-28 passes. Cutler had less than 170 yards and an interception. He choked in his last two games, and the Dolphins have only scored a total of six points combined.

But this week will be different! The Titans defense just can’t get it together. Keep in mind, they have given up the most passing touchdowns this season.

If Cutler can’t bring the Dolphins to victory, he shouldn’t be allowed to play in the league. He should earn about 20 fantasy points. Look for Cutler to be a great Week 5 filler.

Next: 4. Next man up at running back

4. J.D. McKissic, RB Seattle Seahawks

The running backs of the Seattle Seahawks are dropping like flies! C.J. Prosise is listed as doubtful, and will likely miss another game. Chris Carson was placed on IR after an ankle injury in Week 4.

Eddie Lacy didn’t do much for fantasy football owners until late in the game, and Thomas Rawls wasn’t good enough to be active last week. That’s where J.D. McKissic comes in!

Last week, he had only four carries for 38 yards but turned one of those into a touchdown. He added almost 30 receiving yards and a touchdown. He earned over 20 points in some leagues.

Russell Wilson has a habit of making passing plays with his running backs, which increases McKissic’s fantasy value after last week’s passing touchdown. The Chicago Bears gave up the most points to running backs this season, so his Week 5 matchup is ideal.

He’s most likely available in your league and will be a great filler for injured or bye week players.

Next: 3. Keep an eye on another Dolphin

3. DeVane Parker, WR Miami Dolphins

This next player is going to take a lot of convincing I am sure. Especially after last week’s pitiful loss in London to the New Orleans Saints.

More from Jets Fantasy Football

DeVante Parker had less than 70 yards on six receptions. He barely earned fantasy football owner’s double-digit points. Parker’s inconsistency makes it hard to make him an every week starter.

However, this week’s matchup makes him a top fantasy football player in Week 5. The Titans won’t be a problem for Parker. The Titans have given up the most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season; almost 180. They have also surrendered the most passing touchdowns in the league.

On paper, Parker seems like a great starting option. Look for the Titans to help the Dolphins shine in Week 5.

Next: 2. A Colt ready to deliver

2. Frank Gore, RB Indianapolis Colts

Frank Gore owner’s struggle week-to-week contemplating on whether to start or sit him have become a common theme. Unfortunately, if you have started him, your fantasy points have been weak.

Gore has only cleared double-digit fantasy football points once this season and his carries in the red zone have decreased.

The 49ers rank 15th against the run. They have allowed the fifth most fantasy points to the position, and rank 27th in receiving yards surrendered to opposing backs.

His poor fantasy football performance is about to take a turn in the right direction. If your fantasy running back is injured or on a bye, look for Gore to light up the field in Week 5.

1. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE New York Jets

In the beginning of the season, the New York Jets were projected to a have a 0-16 season. With a new offensive coordinator, the Jets are utilizing positions that haven’t been taken advantage of in the past. That’s where Austin Seferian-Jenkins steps in.

This is the week you can finally start a Jets tight end. You may not see those words again, so take advantage of the situation.

Since Week 3, he has had the second most targets on the team. This week should be his breakout game. The Jets take on the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns are 23 in allowing points per game. They have given up the second most receiving touchdowns, which translated to the second most points to the position.

Seferian-Jenkins may not be a star tight end but this week he will be. Grab him while you still can and enjoy the top sleeper pick of Week 5.
