When it comes to Week 5 of Fantasy Football, the D/ST of the New York Jets serves as a start option against the offense of the Cleveland Browns.

The time has come for our beloved New York Jets defense to get the nod for Week 5 of fantasy football. Pinch yourself to make sure you aren’t sleeping, wipe the sleep out of your eyes because yes, you heard me correctly, start the Jets defense as they possess a widely favorable matchup against a porous Cleveland Browns offense.

The comical notion that seemed to be a farfetched thought has now become reality. Start, yes, start the Jets defense in Week 5 fantasy football. Their defense over the past few weeks has continued to improve in the defensive rankings. Gang Green’s defense is now the 22nd best in total points allowed per game with 23, 17th in total yards allowed with 338.5, 29th in rushing yards allowed per game with 143.8 and have improved to the seventh best against the past only allowing 194.8 passing yards per game.

While still being ranked rather poorly against the run, this defensive unit, as I mentioned earlier in the season, would need to develop a groove and become a solid cohesive unit. So far, they’re on track and making progress as this defense has improved impressively in the rankings.

Cleveland’s offense, however, has not achieved the same amount of success Gotham’s defense has achieved. The Browns rank as the 28th offense in total points per game with 15.8, 26th in total yards per game with 296, 17th in passing yards with 219.5, and they’re the 27th best offense in rushing with 76.5 yards per game.

Cleveland has a bright future with young rookie stars in Myles Garrett, David Njoku, DeShone Kizer and Jabrill Peppers, however, it will take more than one season for a group anchored primarily by young rookies to achieve success. Cleveland’s future is bright, but their Week 5 matchup is projected as a dark and gloomy afternoon, especially when your team has a rookie quarterback at the helm in Kizer who already has eight interceptions through four weeks of football.

Coming off a two-game win streak in which the Jets defense racked up 14 fantasy points against the Dolphins and secured a win over the Jaguars in OT, start the Jets defense in Week 5. Ride them while they’re still hot for another week as they should shut down Cleveland like how they contained Miami.
