Heading into Week 4 fantasy football, it’s best to sit tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins of the New York Jets.

The offense of the New York Jets finally woke up last week and delivered a fine performance that ended in a win over the Miami Dolphins. At 1-2, the Jets are hoping to make it two consecutive wins as they have a Week 4 matchup today against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Should fantasy football owners even consider starting tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins since he had a decent game last week?

In the grand scheme of things, no. Yes, he’s a big target at 6’6″ and 262 lbs. but the truth of the matter is, he’s not exactly taking the top off of defenses. Last week against the Dolphins, Seferian-Jenkins totaled just 31 yards, five receptions, and averaged 6.20 yards per catch. He also didn’t score a touchdown in his return back to the Jets after serving a two-game suspension.

These aren’t exactly ground-breaking numbers but at the end of the day, he’s not entering a favorable matchup at all. The pass defense of the Jaguars is very good and has a tendency to shut down a passing game relatively easily.

Quarterback Josh McCown is in for a bad day since the defense of the Jaguars will absolutely bring it to him every chance they get.

Considering they are a very blitz-happy team, doesn’t bode well for McCown to have the time to properly get into any kind of consistent rhythm.

This will easily affect Seferian-Jenkins so it’s best not to take any risks this week and sit him. No, he’s not going to be a sleeper this week by any stretch of the imagination. Fantasy football owners would be wise to find any other viable tight end via the waiver wire since Seferian-Jenkins will more than likely not do much of anything against the stout defense of the Jaguars.

Sit Seferian-Jenkins this week and don’t even think twice about it. He’s going to have a bad day at the office as will the rest of his teammates on the Jets against this complete Jaguars team.
