Heading into Week 3 fantasy football, tight end Will Tye will more than likely be in a limited role on offense of the New York Jets thanks to the return of the starter before him.

So far in just a few games with the New York Jets, tight end Will Tye hasn’t done much of anything. It’s more than likely one of the big reasons why the New York Giants waived him at the end of the preseason since he’s simply a below average tight end at best. The Jets took a chance on him and well, he more than likely won’t be kept much longer at the rate he’s going. When it comes to his fantasy football value, rightfully leave him on the bench this week.

The truth of the matter is, the Jets signed him simply for depth due to what has been happening at the tight end position. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was suspended for the first two games of the season due to violating the substance abuse policy of the NFL. Rookie tight end Jordan Leggett has been out for weeks now due to a severe knee injury.

There was hope that Tye could pan out and bring something more to the table but again, he hasn’t made any impact at all and with the return of Seferian-Jenkins this week, will undoubtedly cut into his reps. The Jets, if they even plan to incorporate the tight end position in their Week 3 game plan against the Miami Dolphins, will have it designed mostly around Seferian-Jenkins.

To be honest, the Jets will probably keep Tye around for a few more weeks until Leggett eventually heals up and can contribute on offense. Either way, sit Tye this week as he’s not worth starting in any capacity whatsoever in Week 3.

So far with the Jets, Tye has totaled just 38 yards, four receptions, and has yet to score a touchdown.

Don’t expect anything out of Tye this week as there are a plethora of other viable tight ends on the waiver wire that will easily score far more than anything he will this week. Stay far away from Tye and don’t even look back.
