Heading into Fantasy Football Week 3, quarterback Josh McCown of the New York Jets serves as a healthy sit due to a matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Last week against the Oakland Raiders, believe it or not, quarterback Josh McCown put up quite the performance. McCown totaled 166 passing yards, 16 completions, and two touchdowns. He even picked up 31 rushing yards on four attempts and on all accounts, had a decent fantasy football performance. What about this week against the Miami Dolphins?

The truth be told, the New York Jets are still trying to find an identity on offense. While they gave a valiant offensive effort last week in their loss to the Raiders, they still have a long way to go in order to be consistent. If the Jets focused more on establishing the run to help alleviate some of the pressure off of McCown, he might continue to move up when it comes to his fantasy football value.

For now, however, the Dolphins are coming off a dramatic win against the Los Angeles Chargers. Emotions are high and their team rose to the occasion to help deliver their first win of the season.

For fantasy football owners contemplating if McCown is a sleeper pick in Week 3, that won’t be the case. The offensive line of the Jets is atrocious and in more bad news, starting offensive guard Brian Winters is officially out in Week 3.

Needless to say, McCown will be pressured, hurried, and have a long game against the blitz-happy defense of the Dolphins. Make no mistake about it, it’s best to sit McCown this week as he’ll more than likely commit errors and even costly turnovers.

Remember, in Week 1, McCown threw for two interceptions against the Buffalo Bills who also have the tendency to blitz at will. Expect the same strategy to be used by the Dolphins, especially since their offensive line will once again have new players on it. Look for any another quarterback to start this week if you need one as McCown won’t do much of anything against the Dolphins.
