When it comes to Week 2 of Fantasy Football, the D/ST of the New York Jets serves as a must-sit against the Oakland Raiders.

The defense of the New York Jets went from being a top-9 defense in three of four defensive categories during the preseason to being ranked the 16th-30th best defense in every category. The Jets defense was torched through the air and via the ground giving up 190 rushing yards to LeSean McCoy, Mike Tolbert, and Tyrod Taylor while also allowing 218 passing yards via Taylor. The fantasy football value of the D/ST of the Jets will only continue to fall since they’re still trying to develop an identity.

Despite the rankings, Gang Green’s defense kept it a one possession game throughout the majority of the matchup. However, as expected, Josh McCown very much like Ryan Fitzpatrick, could not get the job done and lead Gotham to a victory let alone a lead in the game. With two costly interceptions in the second half of the game, Buffalo topped off their division rival Jets 21-12 and sits highly on top of the AFC East, for now.

As this comes to no surprise, please bench the Jets defense this week, if you even have them on your roster. The damage Derek Carr, Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree and Marshawn Lynch will afflict on the Jets defense this Sunday is petrifying.

More from The Jet Press

I fully expect Oakland to rack up more than 21 points against New York, primarily because the offense spends more time punting then converting drives for first downs. Buffalo had 18 plays of 10 or more yards followed by eight plays of 20 or more yards. New York will have a much more painful outing against Carr and the Raiders during their Week 2 matchup.

Oakland’s offense ranks anywhere from the 8th-13th best in all categories. The silver and black rank as the 8th best in total points with 26, 10th in total yards with 359, 13th best in passing yards per game with 250 and 11th best in rushing yards per game with 109.

There’s not much argument needed after those stats. Plain and simple the Jets defense will not serve as a viable start this week. Lynch will bulldoze any lineman, linebacker, safety, and corner in his way. Carr will pick apart Buster Skrine and the remainder of the secondary while McCown will continue to struggle to move the ball farther than 10 yards. It also doesn’t help that running back Matt Forte looks like he’s running with 5-pound weights on each ankle while Powell, who possesses tremendous speed continues to take the primary backseat to the aging veteran back.

Expect the Raiders to rack up the score on the Jets defense while Gotham’s offense continues to struggle for a second week in a row.
