Stay updated on Organized Team Activities of the New York Jets for today from reputable and official sources.

Organized Team Activities are finally here for the New York Jets! After a long offseason, the 2017 NFL Draft is in the books as now it’s time to begin voluntary OTAs for players that want to get a head start in getting ready for the regular season.

Coming off a 5-11 season last year, the Jets are hoping to get off to a good start despite all the odds against them. They have a tough schedule and a plethora of young and inexperienced talent across the team. With good coaching and building a culture around hard work, there is hope the Jets will at least be somewhat competitive this upcoming season.

Expectations around OTAs are to have players understand that all the distractions and lack of hustle last season are in the past. With a few new coaching additions already making their presence known, expect to at least see the coaches hold more players accountable for not doing what is required for success.

The biggest question surrounding OTAs for the Jets will be who wins the upcoming quarterback competition once training camp is underway. Considering OTAs are pretty much light work and no tackling/heavy drills, it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. The Jets are committed to starting the best quarterback that gives them the best chances to win football games. It will come down to either the experience of Josh McCown that will lead the way or perhaps Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg ready to prove they’re capable of delivering results.

Below is our official live tracker for OTAs which will be updated by the minute. We here at The Jet Press will only post tweets/updates from official, verified, and legitimate sources so don’t worry about anything bogus or fake being updated below. We also encourage our readers to please follow us on Twitter and Facebook as we’ll be posting updates there as well. From everyone here at The Jet Press, we hope you enjoy our coverage of today’s organized team activities and please keep refreshing for the latest updates!

Very unofficial stats: McCown 11-for-16, 1 INT (Claiborne) and 1 sack. #Jets

— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) May 23, 2017

TE Austin-Seferian Jenkins was targeted a bunch today and new CB Morris Claiborne hauled in a nice pick down the sideline. #JetsOTAs

— Eric Allen (@eallenjets) May 23, 2017

Guys who I thought had the best practice were Eric Decker and Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Decker looks good after hip, shoulder surgeries #nyj

— Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) May 23, 2017

Hackenberg practiced on the far field. Tough to evaluate from afar. McCown had a strong practice. Petty looked shaky. #nyj

— Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) May 23, 2017

One thing seemed clear from first Jets practice: New offensive coordinator John Morton is aware his QBs are allowed to throw to tight ends.

— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) May 23, 2017

It's spring, these guys are in shorts and lots of mixing and matching. Plus new offensive system. #JetsOTAs Day 1 in the books.

— Eric Allen (@eallenjets) May 23, 2017

Christian Hackenberg has been on far field with third-stringers all practice. Jets QB pecking order is clearly McCown-Petty-Hack for now.

— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) May 23, 2017

Jets QB Josh McCown is loud and fiery. Also has a strong arm that's been very accurate today.

— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) May 23, 2017

Morris Claiborne picks off Josh McCown. First one of the day for McCown #nyj

— Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) May 23, 2017

One of the bright spots today: TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Several nice catches. Weird seeing a tight end catch the ball. #Jets

— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) May 23, 2017

The Jets seem to have remembered the tight end position #nyj

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Another near interception for Hackenberg in 7-on-7. Middleton jumped it. Hack threw it anyway. Middleton dropped it. Ugly #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Petty and Hackenberg on far field doing 7-on-7. McCown with first team on near field. Pretty obvious McCown atop depth chart (right now)

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Nice throw from Hackenberg. Hit Leggett on a deep crossing route #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

As usual, #Jets practicing on two fields. Hackenberg on far field with third stringers; McCown, Petty on main field.

— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) May 23, 2017

Hackenberg bobbled snap, picked it up, true to throw out and was nearly picked. Doug Middleton dropped it. Woulda been pick-six #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

McCown to Decker on a quick out. Decker gets shoved out of bounds, takes a tumble, bounces right up. What hip/shoulder surgery? #Jets

— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) May 23, 2017

Hackenberg, on far field threw an interception. Petty just ran over there and completed a long ball to Chad Hansen. #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Christian Hackenberg is working on the far field with reserves right now. Petty and McCown were working again starting D. #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Jets WR Eric Decker participating in team drills, too. Even threw a block. All good signs for him.

— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) May 23, 2017

Simultaneous team drills again at #JetsOTAs. McCown working with 1st-team to begin. Decker and Maye getting reps with red jerseys on.

— Eric Allen (@eallenjets) May 23, 2017

Brian Winters, who had shoulder surgery, not in team drills. Kelvin Beachum also out #nyj

— Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) May 23, 2017

Marcus Maye now working in with a red jersey. Getting some reps with what looks to be the starting defense #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Marcus Maye not doing team drills. Jamal Adams and Rontez Miles the starters #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Both Decker and Anderson participating in passing drill at full speed. Good sign. #Jets

— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) May 23, 2017

Jets WR Eric Decker doesn't appear to be slowed down by hip/shoulder surgeries as he runs through passing drills (against no defense though)

— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) May 23, 2017

Jets WR ArDarius Stewart, a third-round pick, isn't practicing due to an undisclosed injury. https://t.co/N39W293wfr

— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) May 23, 2017

Both Leggett and ASJ are getting some reps with what looks to be the first unit of offense. Granted, no defense

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

John Morton's intensity wasn't reserved for just rookie camp. He's a fiery man. #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

It appears early QB order (for drills) is McCown – Petty – Hackenberg #Jets

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Here's some video of Christian Hackenberg completing passes at #Jets OTAs https://t.co/PshAKfXo73

— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) May 23, 2017

Jets S Calvin Pryor, the subject of trade speculation, hasn't been spotted at today's first OTA practice. These… https://t.co/U0TW34D9N6
