The New York Jets will have a real quarterback competition this summer to determine their next starter. This should be another golden opportunity for Bryce Petty to prove his worth.

With the new addition of well seasoned and quite experienced veteran quarterback Josh McCown, things will be tested soon enough. Expectations are running very high and the competitive energy will be in full effect this summer when as of right now before the 2017 NFL Draft, the Jets have three quarterbacks on the roster ready to compete.

McCown was mainly brought in to be a quality veteran presence for the younger quarterbacks around him. His experience and leadership certainly will be a huge factor in this team’s success. Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg will also be a very important piece of the puzzle that the Jets have been trying to fill for quite a very long time.

Will Petty be able to step up and get things done? I believe so. I feel he has the advantage over Hackenberg, who needs time to prove himself as well. With Petty, I must give him credit. He could be great, and develop even more should he be named the starting quarterback.

Out of the three quarterbacks, I’d say I have the most confidence that Petty going forward will surprise many. Earlier in the season, Petty needed more time. However, how can you know anything about what he can accomplish if you don’t give him the chance that he deserves?

We will never really know what Petty truly is capable of with his very bright future. So I say that Petty deserves the chance to show that he can be all the Jets need him to be for them. It’s quite possible that he could have an impressive start and emerge with the role as a starter who is ready to lead and bring a change.

A change that could bring the Jets a huge turnaround and lead this team to be a competitor and then some. Petty has been working hard the past few years for a real quarterback competition that he can actually compete and earn. Compared to Hackenberg and McCown, Petty will be the guy to beat once training camp arrives.
