Heading into Week 14 Fantasy Football action, owners should trust in quarterback Bryce Petty to get the job done against the San Francisco 49ers.

The New York Jets finally wisened up for a change. Thanks to their embarrassing loss in Week 13 thanks to the Indianapolis Colts, they finally made a permanent change at quarterback. Fantasy football owners can rejoice in that quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has seen his last snap starting for the Jets in 2016 and make way for Bryce Petty.

Make no mistake about it, this was a decision done too late. Good news is, Petty faces the abysmal San Francisco 49ers this week. That’s right, a team that has lost eleven straight games and are considered to be one of the worst teams in the NFL.

The 49ers share the same boat with the Jets, however. Yeah, Gang Green is just as much a terrible team but at least this week, Petty should breathe some life into an offense that hasn’t been capable of scoring touchdowns at all.

Petty has much better arm strength, IQ, and well, is easily an upgrade over Fitzpatrick. For fantasy football owners wondering if they should start Petty this week, it depends on your situation. For those in the playoffs, Petty is too risky in the grand scheme of things.

If your main quarterback is either injured or on the decline, Petty might be a decent option but don’t expect an insane amount of fantasy points. He should be able to get a touchdown or two but again, he’s not going to put up Tom Brady or Drew Brees-like numbers.

At most, Petty is a QB2 option and that’s only because of the favorable matchup he’s heading into against the 49ers this weekend. He’s a start in such a scenario where fantasy football owners need another option that should muster up a decent amount of points.
