The NY Jets enjoyed an incredible season in 2015, especially with everything wide receiver Brandon Marshall brought to the table. In an exclusive interview with The Jet Press, he sits to discuss what it’s like covering Super Bowl 50.
Make no mistake about it, when the Jets acquired Marshall last off-season, they were able to bring in a dynamic, game-changing wide receiver into their offense. Marshall didn’t disappoint as he made an impact immediately upon arrival. From putting in extra work and preparation to hone his craft and being a mentor to those around him, Marshall delivered incredible results in his first year with the Jets.
In 2015, Marshall totaled 1,502 receiving yards on 109 receptions and a career-high 14 touchdowns. He broke the franchise record for most receptions in a single season and brought some incredible memories to fans everywhere.
Throughout Super Bowl 50 week, Marshall has teamed up Audience Sports, exclusively on DIRECTV and AT&T U-verse, to cover all the great festivities, media events and interviewing other athletes/celebrities as a field correspondent.
I had the privilege to sit down with Marshall to ask him about Super Bowl 50 week and of course, what message he had for fans of the Jets heading into the off-season. Here it is in its entirety:
LTJ: Being the social media host for Audience Sports must have a ton of exciting opportunities to interview many other athletes and celebrities. Who are you most anxious to interview during Super Bowl 50 week and what are you most excited for?
BM: I am excited to interview J.J. Watt because he’s such a great athlete. When we faced the Texans during the regular season, we had a little fight, you know, a little fallout. I want to hear his take on how he viewed that situation since it was in the heat of the moment. I thought it was pretty funny. Most excited for all the Audience Sports coverage this week since it gives me an opportunity to do what I love doing. Getting these reps to work the red carpet is exciting for me since there is a lot going on leading to the Super Bowl. Lots of parties, Media Day, it’s just one great big festival.
LTJ: Audience Sports will be having many events this week, including the EA Sports Madden Bowl and the huge Pepsi Saturday night party, what is it like being a day in your shoes during Super Bowl 50 week?
BM: It’s a lot of fun but also a lot of work as there is a lot that goes into it. Something like 114 million viewers will be on hand for this Super Bowl, it will be a record. Lots of eyeballs on Super Bowl 50 and in San Francisco. I’m excited to really dive into it and meet a ton of athletes and celebrities.

LTJ: If you had to pick a team that will win Super Bowl 50, who would you pick and why? What has the general buzz been so far this week in regards to who will win the big game?
BM: Seems like everyone is leaning towards the Panthers. For me, like I said on Inside the NFL, I picked the Broncos to win and I’m sticking with it.
LTJ: If you could give one message to fans of the Jets during the off-season, what would it be?
BM: Take a deep breath and relax. It’s such a long and demanding season, no need for early predictions and getting worked up over rumors. Fans have been around for 50, some even 60 years waiting on a Super Bowl for the Jets so it’s good to just take care of your brain and the mental part of it and let things happen as they will. It’s okay to get away from the game a bit and be ready for Week 1 because I know I will.
I’d like to personally thank Marshall for giving me this opportunity to interview him as he’s an inspiration to me for everything he does on the field as well as off it. Please follow Marshall on Twitter, Facebook and of course, visit his website about mental health awareness at Project375.org.
