The NY Jets haven’t had a lot of success in recent years with their wide receiver position, until now: Brandon Marshall is about to break that streak.

It’s been 9 years, 108 months, or 3,285 days since the Jets last had a wide receiver top the 1,000 yard barrier. One of the worst marks and longest streaks in NFL history, but Marshall is only 247 yards away from that number. Marshall has had a roller coaster ride so far with the Jets this season.

He’s had highlight reel catches and onside kick recoveries while on the other side he’s had dropped passes and some silly mistakes, but for a 5th round pick not too bad. The Jets knew what they were getting when they dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s when signing off on this deal bringing the former all-pro to the big apple.

Let’s be honest, he’s made more good plays than bad plays in his young Jets career so far. He’s hauled in 57 receptions for 753 yards and 6 touchdown grabs and to reiterate, he’s on pace to break a lot of records for the Jets that have been standing for a while.

He’s brought a breath of fresh air to a stagnant receiving position for the Jets and they deserve to be applauded for the move. Marshall has been battling through a few nagging injuries this season which include an injured foot, toe, ankle and shoulder injuries just to name a few.

Marshall has battled through all of them constantly coming back into the game and fighting for his team. Marshall believes that no matter what happens the Jets are his last stop in what should amount to be a Hall of Fame worthy career. But Marshall is far from done and still has a lot of work left to do including helping the Jets break another streak and that is getting back to the NFL Playoffs.

With Eric Decker dominating as the Robin to Marshall’s Batman, the Jets have re-defined “The Flight Crew” from several seasons ago. As long as Marshall can continue making plays in the red zone for this Jets’ offense, they’ll be in the playoffs and Marshall will finally give the Jets what they’ve been craving: a 1,000 yard receiver.
