NY Jets News: The cookies have arrived
The NY Jets are 3-1 and enjoying all the great publicity coming their way, especially cookies for a head coach that absolutely loves them.
Winning solves everything and even though it’s not perfect, the Jets are the second best team in the AFC East behind the New England Patriots. They’ve taken care of business for the most part but still have to work out a few kinks in their armor. Missed tackles, way too many penalties and some miscues across the board will be some of the things the Jets will try to work on entering their bye week.
Here are some top articles from across the internet about the Jets with some insight behind each of them. Enjoy!
Chris Ivory, Darrelle Revis head our Jets quarter-season awards by Rich Cimini (ESPN)
". It’s too early to draw a conclusion — he still could turn out to be a key role player — but for now he’s just an injured guy, waiting for a shot. His return from knee injury took longer than expected; he’s eligible to come off the physically-unable-to-perform list in Week 7. Stevan Ridley"
While the Jets are rocking and rolling bringing much enjoyment to their dedicated fan base, not everything is as great as it could be. The Jets still have some question marks across the team that will surely be tested when they face some of the better opponents in their schedule throughout the rest of the season. Ridley for example could either be a hidden gem or just a player that is too injury prone to be consistently on the field. I think he could surprise many but it remains to be seen since there is no turntable for his return.
Jets coach Todd Bowles off to sweet start, receives cookie care package by Rich Cimini (ESPN)
"His idea of a great night is celebrating a win with a glass of milk and a stack of his favorite cookies. The Jets are off to a surprising 3-1 start, so we can assume Bowles has turned into a bit of a cookie monster."
Oh yes, Chips Ahoy! sent Bowles a care package with a ton of his favorite cookies for the incredible 3-1 start in his rookie season as head coach. He’s been a breath of fresh air compared to what Rex Ryan was doing since Bowles uses his quiet demeanor and no-nonsense approach with all his players that preaches accountability. He’s earned his respect and keeps everyone focused on the task at hand in turning the Jets into a team ready to make some noise in the NFL Playoffs.
Around the AFC East: Week 5 by Eric Allen (NewYorkJets.com)
"It is hard to believe the Patriots will show any rust after an early bye. This is a prolific offense, averaging a league-high 39.9 points per game and has never looked better. While opponents can’t get in shootouts with the Pats, they are going to have to score points and keep Brady on the sideline. Tom Brady"
The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time for the Jets as it’ll help most of their key players rest up to endure the final 12 weeks of the season. It’ll be a long stretch but in order to be the best, you have to beat the best. I for one truly hope the Patriots are still undefeated when they face the Jets in Week 7. To be the team that hands them their first loss of the season would surely prove to the football world the Jets are serious about being the team to beat in the AFC East.
NFL Power Rankings: New York Jets enter the Top 10 by Nick Ziegler (EmpireWritesBack.com)
"The Jets were able to deliver a crushing blow to the Dolphins’ season in London on their way to moving to 3-1. was back and healthy in Week 4, and he was able to have a career-day. Chris Ivory"
The Jets huge win over the Dolphins definitely got many analysts noticing that their defense could very well be the best in the NFL this season. It’s not as flawless as it could be but the Jets’ defense is impressive to watch as they execute and disrupt pretty much anything coming their way. If Ivory keeps playing the way he’s been for the rest of the season, the Jets will be a force to reckon with all season long. He’s having an MVP caliber season and could end up being one of the best running backs playing provided he stays healthy for the rest of the year.
