With the draft a few hours away, it was time to bring in the latest draft rumors regarding the Jets. We know how quiet it has been on the Jets front as far as leaks. Sources are putting together what they see and hear, to try to get an idea of what is going on. And it turns out, the Jets are high on Tavon Austin:

The #Jets are very, very, very, high on Tavon Austin. Will be an upset if he doesn’t end up a #Jet by the end of the night. #nyj

Jake’s rumors and sources are usually pretty solid, so if Jake tells us this is the case, it typically is. If this becomes the case, fan reaction would be huge, as the fanbase is high on Austin. He is looked at as the big play threat that the Jets haven’t had in years. Here is an example of fan reaction:

If #Jets take Tavon Austin… they’ll officially have the best young one-two punch in the #NFL w/ Steph Hill + Tavon.

The other rumor that has come out of late is that the Jets will move out of one of their two top fifteen picks. John Idzik wants to build through the draft, and that means stockpiling picks. Rich Cimini from ESPN New York heard info on that:

Hearing S Kenny Vaccaro linked to #Jets. Could be a possibility if they trade down from 13, which could happen. Idzik looking to move.

Across the board, there is agreement that this draft is very unpredictable. Some want the Jets to take a tight end, some don’t. Some are excited about the idea of Geno Smith and all the quarterbacks being available tonight, some are begging and pleading for the Jets NOT to take one. With Darrelle Revis gone, speculation has begun about the Jets taking a cornerback to replace him. Talk has mainly centered around Dee Milliner from Alabama. I say let him go somewhere else, take a look at Rich Cimini’s pots:

I asked Alabama CB Dee Milliner about possibility of replacing Revis. He said he’d be just as good, maybe better than Revis. #Jets

I don’t want anyone in here that is that high on himself already. Talk to me after you gain some humility.

It can all finally come to a head tonight.
