Jets Fans: Pay No Attention to the Man with the Microphone

Recently, a lot of people have been in the news, talking about the Jets. Specifically, they have talked about the trade for Tim Tebow. The president said he would be worried about the team if he were a Jets fan.

Yesterday, Boomer Esiason made the proclamation that the Jets should cut Tim Tebow. Later on in the day, even one of our own, Damien Woody, said that the Jets should look into signing TO after the season starts.

Today I am not talking about whether or not I agree with them. Heck, you all know by now how I feel about Tim Tebow being on the team.

My point is everyone’s reaction. Everyone is getting so upset, especially with Boomer for what he said. I see all day on my twitter time line about how nobody cares what Boomer said now or ever, things like that.

Same thing with president Obama. “Nobody cares what he thinks”, sometimes with harsher words, I was reading.

The point today is, Jets fans, stop worrying about it. Pay no attention to these people.

Barack Obama is a huge sports fan, he is known for it. If you are talking with the president, knowing that he is a sports fan, the Tebow situation would be one to ask him about. I know if I were talking to him about sports, I would ask him what he thinks. He’s a sports fan, he is giving an opinion.

That is all it is, an opinion.

Same with Boomer Esaison. Yes, he is paid to speak from behind a microphone. He is giving an opinion. Sometimes these guys give extreme opinions, for the sole person of gaining listeners. So, he will say something that is “out there”, just to get fan reactions. But, whatever he is doing…

All it is, is an opinion.

Damien Woody gave an idea on the radio that the Jets should sign Terell Owens. I know, I know. We all think of that idea and say “What?” I agree, there is no reason for the Jets to even think about signing this guy.

But that is Woody’s opinion, and he is entitled.

That is all it is. An opinion.

There is no reason to get upset at these people, ladies and gentelmen. They are giving opinions.

You have every right to disagree with them, but getting all up in arms about it is not needed. These people are being asked their opinions, or in Boomer and Damian’s cases, being paid to give their opinions. They need listeners. By making the same statements that everyone else makes, they are not going to increase their listenership. They need to draw attention to themselves.

That is why Boomer says what he says. He is paid to get attention.

Don’t agree with him. But don’t be annoyed, because it will never change.
