Eric Decker has been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL since he first got his chance as a full-time starter in 2014. Can he keep that up 2017 with the New York Jets?

The Denver Broncos pretty much gave the New York Jets a nice present when they released wide receiver Eric Decker in 2014. Some wondered if he could still be that consistent player for the Jets as he was for the Broncos, and they definitely got their answer. Yes, he can be.

Since joining the Jets, Decker has had pretty good stats, catching 163 passes with a total of 2,183 yards and 19 touchdowns. Just by looking at this, it’s easy to see why the fans love him. Unfortunately, Decker was set back with a shoulder injury in 2016, just a year after having one of his best seasons in the NFL.

While injuries are never positive, it shouldn’t have too much of an effect on this guy. He’s still got the skills to be a prime time wide receiver, and he’s only just turning 30 this March. There aren’t a whole lot of receivers out there who are as good as Decker is.

If the Jets get their offensive line and quarterback problems figured out, then his numbers will skyrocket. The coaches should also think about running an offense that gets the tight end involved.

That way, the pressure isn’t all on the receivers, and if the quarterback starts to hit his tight end a lot, one of the receivers could be wide open. This would help Decker as a slot receiver and continue to take the top off of defenses.

The bottom line is that Decker should have no problem coming back next season. He’s a great wide receiver, and he’s still got a few years on him. It would be a good idea for the Jets to keep him on for the next two years that are left on his contract.
