The Jets have a great deal of work to do this off-season. There is the obvious situation at quarterback. But, the other situation on offense that must be dealt with is the offensive line. The Jets offensive line has not been great, despite the high-ranking with the running game. I have said it time and time again, an offense will not go if the offensive line isn’t good. The Jets are no different.
The biggest culprits are the right side, guard Willie Colon and tackle Breno Giacomini. Let’s take a look at their grades, courtesy of Pro Football Focus.
First, we will take a look at Breno Giacomini.
The Jets have a distinction that both guys on the right side of the line are in the top ten at their position. But, they are both in the top ten in penalties.
Breno is tied for 10th in the league with eight penalties (one declined).
With an overall grade of -2.9, Giacomini does not an overall grade that is on the positive side of zero. Giacomini is tied for ninth in the league, allowing 26 quarterback hurries, to go along with three sacks and seven quarterback hits.
As far as grades, the Jets right guard has posted a -0.1 in pass blocking, -0.5 in the screen game, and -0.1 in the running attack.
For a player that was touted by the Jets as a guy with a mean streak, and the perfect lineman for Rex Ryan, Breno Giacomini has been anything but that. His mean streak has only resulted in penalties.
It’s time for the Jets to move on.

Willie has been called for a league leading 14 penalties, with only two declined. He has been better in the pass blocking, with an overall grade of 5.4. He has allowed one sack, two quarterback hits, and 18 hurries.
Other than that, Colon has performed well below standard for the Jets in 2014. In the run blocking, Colon has been bad, with a -11.4. His overall -13.8 has been a thorn in the side of the Jets offensive line. He can go too.
The Jets need to get the offensive line in order. Otherwise, it wouldn’t matter if Peyton Manning was under center.
