Now, for the other side of the coin.

Zach Rogers squandered any opportunity he had of making the final 53. He could possibly have played his way off of the practice squad as well. He had passes go through his hands, and he muffed a punt at the end of the game that could have cost the Jets the game. Not that the result of a preseason game is a big deal, but Rogers definitely lost the confidence of coaches last night, and I think he knows it.

Ben Obomanu had a suspect game as well. He has had a pretty good preseason, and did catch 3 passes for 24 yards. However, he did have a couple of passes go through his hands as well. He really did very little to distinguish himself, as we move to the final cutdowns, due by 4 PM on Saturday.

On the offensive line, Brian Winters had a rough night. When Matt Simms wasn’t completing passes, he was taking hits and running around back there. A lot of that had to do with missed blocks by Brian Winters. He will get better, and will be nice depth on the line, but I am thankful he is not being counted on to play yet.

Onward and upward. Next up is the Tampa Bay Bucs in the season opener!

Ladies and gentleman brace yourself for a QB controversy! The blogs, tweets, and comments are full of overnight Simms fans….many calling for him to start! Assuming the Jets feel Geno is not quite ready for prime time, Sanchez injured and Greg McElroy mostly likely being cut, Simms has moved up the depth chart at the very least. Game 1 it might be Geno starting with Simms as backup. Spadola makes the cut, no doubt, he has glue for hands. I’d rather see Bell make the cut even if it means releasing Goodson, I think he played “Jet Football” better then anyone last night, I’d like to see him behind the ones. Crunch time, time for the cuts, additions off the wire, and practice squad signings. I think the Jets could be quite active before the opener. Thanks for the preseason Allen..

I agree Paul…the next two days are going to be very very interesting. It was my pleasure to break down the preseason, and don’t worry, there is much more to come in the regular season. Stay tuned

The Jets will for sure be picking up some guys that are cut tomorrow. I think they might trade Kyle Wilson and try to pick up a safety. Also they will definetly acquire an OT after Smith’s atrocious performance last night.

I think you are right on both accounts.
