For all of the times that we have had players on the Jets that are rentals, or guys that never really were “Jets”, aka Brett Favre, it’s great when the Jets have a guy that is excited to be a Jet. And that is exactly what we have in Braylon Edwards. I know in the past I have questioned how much he last left, but when a player wants to be on a team, it can cover a lot of problems.

Braylon tweeted all last night about how excited he is to be back with the Jets. Here is what he had to say yesterday about returning to the team:

I’ve hoped it for the whole offseason. I prepared myself for it, as if it was going to happen. But I’d be a liar if I said I thought it was going to happen this fast. I thought it was going to be a situation that was going to happen later on in camp, possibly. But it happened before camp, I’m here to be able to start with them so I was pretty surprised.

You can see what I mean right there. He hoped to come back the entire offseason. When does anyone ever want to be on the Jets? I was thinking back to the nearly 30 years I have watched this team, and I can’t thing of it happening very often. You always want that type of player around your roster. I would take 30 Braylons, just based on that attitude, over 30 Darrelle’s any day.

Incidentally, here is what Braylon had to say about the QB competition:

Mark (Sanchez) is definitely a friend of mine. On the field as well as away from the Jets, so I wish him well and I hope he can be the guy. But at the same time, I’m a Jet first so I hope the guy that wins the job is the guy that’s going to help us prepare to the next level, the guy that’s going to take us to the playoffs, get us back to where we belong, and hopefully even further. So whichever guy that is, that’s the guy I want to win. It’s not personal when it comes to that. When it comes to that, we want to win, and whoever can be that guy, be it Geno (Smith), be it Mark (Sanchez), that’s what has to be.

That is the only answer he could give there. Even if Braylon is completely pulling for Mark, he can’t say it. He is a team guy, and I love the attitude.
