In 2009, the choice was B.J. Raji and he was drafted by the Packers that season. It’s not often easy to highlight the work of a nose tackle, because often they are clogging up offensive linemen in the middle of the line, and don’t hit the boxscore. But, Raji is the perfect size for the position at 6’2″ 337 pounds. He is always around the football when he plays as well. Take a look at his stats:

Season Team Tackles Interceptions Fumbles

2012 Green Bay Packers 14             14 26 16 10 0.0 2 0.0 0
2011 Green Bay Packers 16             16 22 14 8 3.0 0 2 0.0 0
2010 Green Bay Packers 16             16 39 29 10 6.5 3 0.0 0

judging by comments made by rex regarding different draft picks, connor and hill in particular, i’m guessing mr. t sometimes allowed rex to make the call on draft day and sometimes made the call himself. i’ll extend that to where i’ll guess rex was behind the mo w. pick as well as coples. if i’m correct in these guesses that would indicate rex is pretty good at picking jewels in the first round (we’ll blame wilson on mr. t, even though i would guess rex was behind that one as well). i really hope they hit a home run with the first rounder. if they can grab mo with the thirtieth pick, i’m hoping we can get a future hof olb with the ninth pick. my optimism knows no bounds. :-) oh, yeah, that doesn’t mean mo won’t spend his entire career here and become a hofer….

I would agree with that. I think Rex got some choices on his own, as did Mr. T. This ultimately would have led to his demise in my opinion. The GM has to be the face of those decisions. The coach can have a voice, but the GM has to be the ultimate voice.
