It felt like all of a sudden, John Idzik and his team ate their Wheaties, didn’t it? We went several days making zero moves, but then, all of a sudden, in comes some mid-level free agents. Idzik brings in guys that the Jets can get the most “bang for their buck” for.

This is what you have to do when you are working with very little money. A one year deal for Willie Colon, for example, is a brilliant idea. It’s not a large monetary commitment, and keeping a guy on his walk year will keep him motivated. Mike Goodson can finally have the opportunity to show the world what he can do, maybe in a starting role, so he will be ready to go. Antonio Garay, who signed later yesterday, should help up front with the defense as well.

So, I wanted to hear what you guys felt about these two guys.  So as usual, I took to Twitter to get some opinions on these two signings.  Here is what you had to say, first about Mike Goodson:

@thejetpress like his speed & elusiveness hopefully the fumbles are a thing in the past good fit for the west coast O

@thejetpress Greene was a plodding slow back. Goodson can be explosive when healthy. Morningweg will use him right. HERE we go SCREEN PASS!

@thejetpress Think we all know he isn’t the long term answer, nice cheap stop gap while we search for our own franchise back.

Maybe AJ is right. I think he could be a long term answer, emphasis on “could be”. He has great burst with the ball in his hands, why can’t we catch lightning in a bottle.

@thejetpress Excited to see this guy turn the burners on. He can cut at speed, has good hands,& fits right in with the new Jet Offensive plan

And now, for some thoughts on the signing of Willie Colon:

@thejetpress Colon has protected Big Ben for a few years. If he stays healthy, easy home run for the #Jets.

@thejetpress Love the Willie Colon signing for our #Jets..big fan of him as a starting OG..plus he’s a fellow Hofstra alum!!! Represent #nyj

Both of these gentlemen have it right on the money about Willie Colon. He has been a terrific lineman for many years, and as long as he is healthy, it’s basically a no-brainer for the Jets.

Yesterday was a good day for John Idzik and his staff with the New York Jets.
