We all heard how excited Tim Tebow was to be with the Jets, following the announcement of the trade. Well, Gary Myers tried to dispel that earlier this week, with his article, quoting a league source, that gave the opinion that Tebow will seek a trade in the offseason if he is not the starter. The source was unnamed, of course, but just bringing up the idea had the topic on people’s lips since the article came out.

Well, the topic was presented to Tim at his press conference yesterday after practice, and Tim took no time in laughing it off:

That’s what these guys told me about a little bit ago. I find that pretty funny. It’s about as true as me living in Hoboken, I think. (laughter) I guess it’s just part of what you have to deal with, is rumors and stuff like that, I don’t know. All I can say is, I love being here as a Jet, I’m thankful for it and I want to be here for a long time. I guess you just have to put up with stuff like that.

Welcome to NY, Tim. You aren’t in Colorado anymore, that’s for sure. Anonymous sources offer up their opinions as often as people offer you coupons as you walk down the NYC streets. Like he said, it is something he had better get used to.

In a more football-related topic, Tim was asked if he thinks that the Wildcat can be effective on Sunday in Pittsburgh:

Well, we want to be a factor and be able to be effective and execute and be efficient when we’re in there. But, I think that also depends on play calling time and how many opportunities they put in (for) the Wildcat. We just want to find ways to hold on to the ball, to get first downs, to keep our defense off of the field and if we can do that through the Wildcat, that’d be great.

Say anything you want about Tim Tebow, but he will never give a quote that can be mis-construed. He certainly doesn’t sound like a guy that is jealous of not being the starter. He sounds like a guy that wants to do anything to help this team win. As it should be.
