– It’s a good thing that the Jets traded their 4th round pick for Tim Tebow instead of using that pick on a WR. I mean it’s not like the Jets NEED another WR right now or anything!
– So far in Jets camp it seems what we are hearing the most coming from the daily practices and scrimmages are the amount of SACKS both QBs are taking. Both QBs are taking between 3-5 sacks per practice and unfortunately those numbers are starting to stick out like a sore thumb. Of course a legitimate argument can be made that the entire starting Jets healthy offensive line has yet to come together and play during the first week of camp as Wayne Hunter has been battling back issues and starting All-Pro Center Nick Mangold has been absent due to his trip across the pond to support his sister in the Olympics but the amount of sacks being given up is very noticeable. At this point, its difficult to determine if it’s due to the positive changes around the Jets defensive line or the lack luster play of the Jets offensive line. It remains to be seen and we will get a good look at what’s going on for sure this Friday night when the Jets open the preseason vs the Cincinnati Bengals on NFL Network.
– WR Stephen Hill has been getting schooled in camp and is getting a world class education in the process. Since camp started, Hill has been getting shadowed by Revis , Revis practically living on Hill’s HIP which is why the Jets tend to go practice after practice with no mention of Hill. Not sure if this is by design as the coaching staff wants Hill to hit the ground running and no better way to help him do this than by putting him up against the league’s best or the defensive matchups happen to fall that way. Whatever the reasoning is, Revis has been shutting the rookie down for the most part and giving him priceless tutelage that other rookie WRs WISHED they could be receiving right now. Hill got one up on the star CB this week in camp when QB Mark Sanchez threw a perfect 50-yard TD bomb to the rookie WR while Revis was draped on him. Hill managed to get a step or two on Revis to haul in the 50 yard bomb, very impressive catch to say the least. I still believe Hill would fare better if he’s the complimentary 3rdWR behind 2 veterans but it looks as if he’s going to go into the season as the #2 and that may end up being too much for him to handle right NOW. I hope I’m wrong.
