Coach Rex Ryan is on a media tour, following his lap band surgery which has allowed him to shed over 100 pounds. Today he was on the “Fox and Friends” program, talking about the team and his surgery. Here are some excerpts:
On people “Tebowing”:
“Well hopefully people will do a lot of it. Hopefully a lot of Jet fans will do this Tebow thing as well.”
On what point Tim Tebow will be called upon as Mark still is the starter:
“Well I think when we look at it the first two years we had more success on offense and we had a guy named Brad Smith who we lost to Buffalo last year did a tremendous job for us running the wildcat offense. The guy that really invented the wildcat or brought the wildcat to the National Football League was Tony Sparano our offensive coordinator. I’ve been a big believer in it, I know how difficult it is to defend. It makes you play eleven on eleven and the best wildcat quarterback in football is Tim Tebow. Now he is a young man that can play quarterback every down for you but we have our starting quarterback in Mark Sanchez. We feel great about him. And all I say about Tim Tebow is he is an outstanding football player and I think he is really going to help our team.”

Alan has been a passionate Jets fan since 1985. Obviously, that means he is a glutton for punishment, as he has suffered through many Jets disappointments. He remembers Mark Gastineau's late hit in the 1986 AFC Divisional Playoff game like it was yesterday. There have been many more failures than successes, but through it all, Alan has remained true to the Gang Green. He has been blogging for the Jets on various websites for the past 5-6 years. He lives and breathes the NY Jets all year round, and is committed to bringing the Jets passion to "The Jet Press" on a daily basis.
