Stephen Hill is the guy who the Jets want to fit the bill. He was limited during OTAs and minicamp with a hamstring problem, but he has a lot of skills. At 6’4″ 215 pounds, he is the size you are looking for in a wide receiver. Running a 4.36 40 yard dash, he can fly as well. With limited receptions in college, he did average over 20 yards per catch, but his route experience is limited. The Jets may want him to be the number 2, but there is no guarantee that he will fit the bill right away.
Another guy with that opportunity is Chaz Schilens. He is the same height as Hill, and made a very strong showing at mini camp. He has great hands, and looks like an able bodied target for Mark Sanchez. If he can stay on the field, which Chaz has a history of problems with, he may just be the guy.
Jeremy Kerleycame on strong at the end of 2011, but the Jets really see him in the slot, as a third down type of wide receiver.
Don’t count out a sleeper possibility as well, DaMarcus Ganaway. This young man had quite the showing at OTAs and minicamp. If the other guys don’t watch out, this guy could just make his way up the depth chart for an immediate 2012 impact as well.
