They exchange punts throughout the third quarter, until late in the quarter, when Jim Turner connects from 40 yards out, to extend the 1969 Jets lead to 22-10.

Midway through the final stanza, Vinny Testaverde hits Keyshawn Johnson over the middle and he is off to the races. However, in 1969 territory he is caught from behind and he fumbles, and the ball is turned over at the 1969 34 yard line, ending the 1998 comeback attempt. Late in the quarter, a Curtis Martin fumble at midfield ends the last ditch effort, making the final score 22-10 in favor of the 1969 Jets.

Don Maynard was the player of the game, with 5 receptions for 95 yards and 1 TD.
