3 best-case scenarios for the NY Jets in 2023, and 2 worst-case
By Ryan Heckman
Aaron Rodgers continues to regress
Let's not overshadow the facts, here. Rodgers is going to be 40 years old by the end of this coming season. There were times, last year, where he truly looked like age was catching up to him. He is not the young gun he once was, and we saw many of his throws look off target over the course of the last year.
Now, on the contrary, there were indeed times when he looked sharp. But, if Rodgers plays like he did last year, and even regresses a bit more, then the Jets are not getting what they thought they signed up for.
The Jets miss the postseason
If Rodgers is not everything the Jets thought he could be, then there is a real possibility this team misses the postseason in 2023. Of course, they missed it last season, yet 2022 was mostly considered a success to do the upward trajectory of the organization.
But, if the Jets miss the playoffs this season, then you can all but consider the sky falling in New York. That is not what this organization signed up for over the last few months. The Jets are all-in on not just a playoff berth, but ideally, a Super Bowl.
If New York fell short of just making the playoffs, to begin with, then 2023 will be considered an utter failure from all perspectives.
