This is some interesting news that might shake the fan base up a little bit.

Woody Johnson has been through a lot as the owner of the New York Jets. The Revis situations, hiring a GM, the ups and downs of the Rex Ryan era, and everything else. Well, it may be that Woody wants out.

There are unconfirmed reports this morning out of Florham Park that the Jets’ owner has agreed to sell the football team, with the deal to close as soon as possible.

As mentioned, there is no confirmation as of yet, so we are waiting to hear from our on the spot beat reporter, Manish Mehta to bring the official word. However, here is a recent quote from Woody Johnson:

This football thing is rough. You guys might not remember, I had a full head of hair when I took ownership of this team. Darrelle Revis and his holdouts have pushed me over the edge. Now my guys are working on a shampoo product to bring back my hair!  I just don’t think I can do this much longer.

This is an interesting set of facts, isn’t it?

Now, the worst of it? Check out who is rumored to be purchasing the team:

That’s right, it’s James Dolan, the chairman of Madison Square Garden in New York. The same James Dolan that has run the Knicks into the ground, but trying to get them out of it by hiring Phil Jackson to run the basketball team. Here is a quote from a recent interview with Mr. Dolan:

I’ve always wanted to get into football. The indoor sports have treated me so well so far, it’s time for me to branch out into the outdoor sports. But, how would I get started? I wonder if Phil knows how to build a football team too. Excuse me I have to go call him.

Rex Ryan heard about the rumor and had this to say:

I’ve got my job to do so I don’t really care who owns the team. I just hope he doesn’t bring Sather with him. I might be forced to kiss his rings.

So, if this is true, it brings up a lot of questions. How much authority would John Idzik lose? How short of a leash would Rex be forced to be on? How much say will Dolan have on personnel?

One thing I do know for sure is this: this article was for entertainment purposes only. Happy April Fool’s Day from myself and the staff at the Jet Press!
