It’s football Friday, so it is time to get to the weekly NFL picks. Last week, I once again got back to .500 with a 2-1 week. I actually called all three winners, but the Chiefs did not cover the spread, so went a perfect week. So, we enter week eight with a 10-10-1 record.

You guys know how this works. These are recreational picks only, and we do not take responsibility for any financial losses sustained by taking the advice of these choices. Now, without further adieu, our week eight picks in the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE! Here we go…..

49ers -16.5 over the Jaguars: We start this week down in Jacksonville, Florida, where the defending NFC champions take on the Jaguars. Oh, the Jaguars. *sigh*. Would anybody even notice this team if it weren’t for MJD? Yet this team was ranked better than the Jets in the preseason. That, however, is for a different discussion.

The 49ers have been performing well on the road of late, winning their last two road games by 24 points, and 14 points. They have also lost one on the road by 26, but that was to the Seattle Seahawks, clearly a bit better of an opponent than they have this week.

16.5 is a very large number. However, I have picked the Jaguars in one of these large spread games, and they earned one of my ten losses. I am not making that mistake again. Take the….

SAINTS -11.5 OVER THE BILLS

We are going to head down to the Bayou for game number two. Drew Brees and company take on the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills aren’t an easy out, with young quarterback EJ Manuel and the running attack of C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Don’t forget about Mario Williams hitting quarterbacks with reckless abandon as well.

But they haven’t played the Saints yet. Drew Brees, Darren Sproles, and the rest of the Saints’ multifaceted offense is unstoppable, especially at home. They average 34 points at home, the Bills are nowhere near that on the road, and they aren’t going to start now. Take the….

BRONCOS -13 OVER THE REDSKINS

It’s a large spread week as we head to Denver for game number three. Peyton Manning takes on RGIII. The old guard facing the new guard. It should be an interesting ball game.

The Broncos will score their points, no doubt. Even in the loss last week, Denver scored. But Robert Griffin is getting healthier with each week. The Redskins will score as well.

And the Colts put on tape the most efficient way to get at Peyton. Rush him. Get to him early and often. I think the Redskins will be able to do that, maybe not win the game, but Denver doesn’t cover. Take the….
