The Reality of the 2013 New York Jets Roster

OL: Should the Jets not resign either Matt Slauson or Brandon Moore, that would leave Vlad Ducasse and Willie Colon as the day 1 starters. However in the draft there are Chance Warmack, Jonathan Cooper available early. Larry Warford, Barrett Jones, and Travis Frederick are day 2 draft selections that could all start on this line.

Travis Frederick

CB/S: Last but not least should Darelle Revis be traded, this would create extra draft picks, but also a hole in secondary to go along with free safety. Players to fill the void would be Bacarri Rambo who is a stand out safety who may be a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Other talented coverage safeties David Amerson of NC State (CB/S hybrid).

It would seem to me, and this might be a bit optimistic, that although the outside sources say the Jets have so many holes and a lack of talent, this is not the case. By opening day, the doomed team that so many are looking for may not be there. Between free agency and a smart draft, New York will be on course to a younger, more athletic starting 22 on the field. While the talent level is even with about everyone else in the AFC East for instance, it will be up to the coaching staff to make up the difference in what will amount to wins and losses. And that is the way it should be.

Reuland has only been w/ jets given 1st yr learning 3 positions and 90% blocking for Jets. Regardless of BIO;s on web, he and JJ Watts are the exact same size and jump same 55″ inch vertical box jump- he is nearly 6’6″ and 271. However, what never seems to come out is Reuland in 2011 pre-season was Niners top receiver, never dropped a ball and nicknamed garbage man as he caught everything within 5 ft of him high and low and was nicknamed for this reason, NOT Ryan’s interpretation. Man can jump very high!, reach above any contender, great hands BUT, he was behind DK, no more. Hopefully, whether be Sanchez or new backup QB, they will get comfi with man to go to- they will see and target our silent TE- he is a team player but hopefully the team lets him play beyond blocker!

I agree with this article. Jets still have some strong players and will need some young players to step up. I am hoping that Kenrick Ellis, Josh Bush, Antonio Allen, Ellis Lankster, Ricky Sapp, and Reuland can all take the next step and be viable guys to rotate in and out. Even if just 1 of these players can become a starter this year it would be great for us.

My guess is that the Jets will make 3-4 more signings before training camp because there are some holes. I also suspect they will add one more draft pick in this draft (round 3 or 4 from Revis trade when it happens) and have 4 strong picks in this years draft. By the start of the season, there will be many new faces and I am hoping they play together well.
